L3523 recipe using Boraq 5 L3127N
Notes *This uses the Base L3523 low fire glaze recipe to compare L3127N Boraq 5 with Boraq 1. Pictures Sample wt. 13 grams. Fired cone 04 Sample wt. 13 grams. Fired cone 04 oxidation. Both samples appear to have the relatively same amount of glossiness, the L3523 sample perhaps just slightly glossier. L3523A sample has more material around outside edges of socket. L3523 vs L3523D Boraq 1 vs Boraq 5 at cone 04 L3523 sample had just a slightly thicker application and was also slower to dry. There is more colour variation between the single and double dipped portions L3523D. L3523 sample has a slightly smoother surface whereas the L3523D sample has more instances of a pin-hole like surface that has healed over. The variation between the two samples is harder to observe on white clay.
